Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations - Report - 2018

Oral Hygiene Day is celebrated all over India on 1st August to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. G.B. Shankvalkar, the doyen of Periodontology and founder of the Indian Society of Periodontology, to bring awareness and also to stress the importance in preventing oral diseases.

As a part of Oral Hygiene Day celebrations, the Department of Periodontology, Narayana Dental College & Hospital, had organized ‘Oral Hygiene Awareness Program’ on 1stAugust, 2018. The above program was conducted to bring about awareness on importance of oral hygiene maintenance among the patients visiting the hospital.

The reception area of the Dept. of Periodontology was decorated aptly for the occasion by the post graduate students and faculty with department logo along with “Oral Hygiene Day” inscribed on it. Potted plants were arranged in the patient waiting area and the walls informative charts pertaining to oral hygiene maintenance.

Inauguration and cake cutting was done at 11:00 am by postgraduate students and attended by faculty and students of the institution. Pamphlets regarding oral hygiene instructions and importance of oral hygiene maintenance were distributed to spread the awareness.

A quiz competition was organized for all BDS students, Interns & Post graduates to enhance their perception and enrich their understanding of the subject. They were awarded with appreciation and participation certificates by the Department of Periodontology.
