International Women’s Equality Day

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY CELEBRATIONS

WEC, NDCH, 26th AUG 2023

The ‘International Women’s Equality Day’ was celebrated in the college premises on 26th Aug 2023, to reflect upon the efforts of all the leaders & feminists to address the #gender neutrality #gender equality #gender disparity saga and to brief upon the legal reforms pertaining to justice to women. It was celebrated in teamwork with Women wing, IDA, Nellore Branch. A guest lecture on “Equity rather than Equality” was held in the afternoon hours between 12.00 to 01.00 PM on Saturday. The invitee guest was Dr (Mrs.) K Prasanna Purna M. D, (TB & RD), Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Narayana Medical College, Nellore. An introductory talk was given by Dr. Vandana Raghunath, Chairperson, WEC, NDCH. Dr. Anusha PG, Oral Pathology introduced the guest to the audience, following which our Dean (Academics) Dr. N Siva Kumar, Prof & Head, Pedodontics, was requested to welcome the guest with a bouquet. Madam’s deliberation was crisp, and she touched upon the equity aspects, which are being outweighed compared to equality, quoting examples from scriptures and present scenarios.

She ended her talk with take home message, with an emphasis that in the given circumstances a woman needs to be knowledgeable and be proficient with the statutes and fight for justice. All the members of WEC, NDCH, staff, interns & students of NDCH participated in the event. Madam was felicitated with a souvenir by the WEC, NDCH. Dr. Niranjan, Dr. Krishna Kumar, Dr. Rajsekhar, Dr. Srinivas, Dr. Vivek, Dr. Deepthi & Dr. Prathima office bearers of IDA, Nellore Branch also thanked & felicitated the guest with a memento, shawl & certificate. In the valedictory note Dr. Vandana Raghunath expressed gratitude towards the guest for accepting the invite, Management Narayana Medical Institutions, Principal, Dean, Coordinator &, staff members for having played a major role in organizing and acknowledged the efforts of administrative officer. The students & interns of NDCH were thanked for making this program a huge success.
