International Women’s Day Celebrations

Women’s Forum, Narayana Dental College & Hospital, under the guidance of Dr.Vandana Raghunath, Chairperson, Women Empowerment Committee, and able leadership of Dr.Ajay Reginald, Principal and Dr.N.Siva Kumar, Dean, Academics, celebrated “International Women’s Day” on 8th March 2018. The program was held at the Main auditorium, Narayana Medical Campus, from 2PM onwards. Mrs. Sindhura, First Lady, Nellore District and Mrs.Padma Subramanyam, Director, Rainbow School, Nellore, were the chief guests. Other dignitaries included Dr.Hymavathi, Professor & Head, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Mrs.Indira, Dean, Narayana Group of Nursing Institutions and Dr.VeeraNagireddy, Principal, Narayana Medical College.

After the traditional prayer song & lamp lighting ceremony, all the dignitaries spoke about the importance of Women’s day and how best one can contribute to the “women empowerment” in today’s society, at various levels. An agenda was planned by the Women’s Forum, NDCH, which included educating girl children about sanitation, conducting dental camps and educating them about oral health. Visit to old age homes and orphanages to help the needy also were considered. Mrs. Sindhura spoke about the WHO theme of this year, "#PressforProgress” - A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive". She also explained about “Women Empowerment” by quoting the examples of living extra-ordinary IAS officers like Ms. Ira Singhal & Ms. Ummul Kher and how the inner self played an important role in creating or bringing about a change among ourselves through dedication, determination, courage and perseverance.

The function concluded by presenting of Mementos to the guests and prizes to the winners of various programs conducted during the “Women’s Week” from 2nd march to 7Th march 2018. A School Oral health screening camp and self defense workshop were also part of it. A small cultural program with few dances, solo singing and fancy dress also followed. The function ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
